Journalism Project 2016: The Effect the Environment of a Classroom has on a Student’s Learning

Shoe Drawing

The Process: We first started off by coming up with ideas for our shoe drawing. We took some of the cameras in the classroom and went around school taking photos of our shoes. These were my ideas of possible pictures to draw: The picture I chose to draw was this one: The second step was to make the photo smaller and put a grid on it. This is what it looked like: The third step was to take a large paper, with the same grid lines, and draw the shoe with the same proportions on that paper. This was the rough draft for the shoe. This is what that looked like: The fourth step was to practice shading with different pencils on a scale. This is what that looked like: The fifth step was to take the rough draft to the light table with a page from our sketchbook and trace it. I didn't take a picture of that, but it basically looked like the rough draft without the grid. The final step was to take the page we traced the shoe onto, and then shade it according to the p...

GGG Investigation Reflection

1) For exponential functions, when using a table you can look at where the x-value is 0, and see what the y-value is. This is for the y-intercept. For the growth factor, you can see how much the y-value is being multiplied by every time "x" goes up by 1. For the y-intercept on a graph, you can see what the y-value is when the x-value is 0. For the growth factor, you can look at two consecutive points. Find their y-values and divide the larger y-value by the smaller one. For an equation, it is easy to find the y-intercept and growth factor. Exponential equations are written in the form y = a(b) to the power of x, where a is the y-intercept, and b is the growth factor. Using this, you can find both. Examples: Graph: This graph’s y-intercept is 25: (0, 25) This graph’s growth factor is 2: (2,100) ÷ (1,50) = 2 Table: This table’s y-intercept is 25: (0, 25) This table’s growth factor is 2: (5,800) ÷ (4,400) = 2 Equation: y = 7(3)^x ...
